2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, Be The Match, a bone marrow donor program dedicated to matching donors to patients in need, is celebrating its 25th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Be The Match, also known as the National Marrow Donor Program, has, in its time, facilitated more than 61,000 lifesaving donations; and
WHEREAS, the volunteer personnel of Be The Match have worked tirelessly to coordinate drives across the Commonwealth to add potential Virginia donors to its registry containing more than eight million DNA samples; and
WHEREAS, Be The Match has facilitated the provision of medical financial aid to patients in need of a donation and their families; and
WHEREAS, Be The Match and its donors have notably contributed to the extant research on donations, leading to higher survival rates of patients; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Be The Match, also known as the National Marrow Donor Program, hereby be commended for its service in the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Be The Match Foundation as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s admiration for the program’s important and lifesaving efforts.
