15105388DWHEREAS, Apheresis Associates of Northern Virginia, an independent clinic in Annandale, has been serving the Northern Virginia community for more than a decade; and
WHEREAS, specializing in the collection of peripheral blood stem cells and donor matching for bone marrow transplants, Apheresis Associates of Northern Virginia has helped thousands of patients in its history; and
WHEREAS, Apheresis Associates of Northern Virginia collects allogeneic donors for the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), Department of Defense, and the Gift of Life registries; and
WHEREAS, Apheresis Associates of Northern Virginia works with the NMDP’s Be The Match program, which inspects, processes, and stores samples from more than eight million potential bone marrow donors; the program facilitates donor searches and helps with post-transplant expenses; and
WHEREAS, the nurses and doctors staffing the Apheresis Associates of Northern Virginia clinic have more than 65 years of combined experience and focus on providing a comfortable, personal, and positive experience for donors; and
WHEREAS, the Apheresis Associates of Northern Virginia clinic is fully equipped to handle a variety of services, including x-rays, EKGs, and laboratory testing, and offers numerous amenities for donors; and
WHEREAS, Apheresis Associates of Northern Virginia has received numerous awards and accolades; it was ranked number one in the world for peripheral blood stem cell collection in 2009, earned the 2011 Donor Management Innovation Award, and received recognition in 2013 for being the first NMDP center to achieve more than 2,000 collections; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Apheresis Associates of Northern Virginia for its service to the Northern Virginia community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Apheresis Associates of Northern Virginia as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the clinic’s important work.
