2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Loudoun County High School volleyball team displayed exceptional skill and determination by winning the Virginia High School League Group 4A state championship on November 22, 2014; and
WHEREAS, the Loudoun County High School Raiders set a state record, winning their seventh state championship with a sweep of the James Wood High School Colonels at the Siegel Center in Richmond; and
WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Raiders defeated the James Wood Colonels by scores of 25–14, 25–20, and 25–13 to finish the season with a 29–2 record and their third consecutive state title; and
WHEREAS, ably led by first-time head coach Sherrilyn Hanna, who had previously coached several current team members on the Loudoun Youth Volleyball middle school program, the Loudoun County Raiders had already beaten the James Wood Colonels in conference and regional games; and
WHEREAS, each athlete—Celine Nguyen, Emily Solis, Addi Williams, Rachael Cullen, Hannah Vandegrift, Madison Batts, Olivia Aycock, Rachel Voketaitis, Lauren Topper, Taylor Borup, Ciara Kain, Logan Robberstad, Hannah Aycock, Abby Wright, and Allie Sarver—contributed immensely to the victory; and
WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Raiders benefited from the leadership and guidance of all the coaches and staff and the enthusiastic support of their parents, friends, fellow students, and all the members of the Loudoun County High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the 2014 Loudoun County High School volleyball team for winning the Virginia High School League Group 4A state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sherrilyn Hanna, head coach of the Loudoun County High School volleyball team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the team’s achievements.
