2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, Scott Henry Gustavson of Lincoln, an advocate and a promoter of the town of Leesburg, a successful real estate broker, an avid sailor, a friend to many people, and a devoted husband and father, died on September 3, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Scott Gustavson was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Annandale and around the world, including the Dominican Republic and Hong Kong; he graduated from Annandale High School in 1982 and the University of San Francisco in 1989; and
WHEREAS, a proud veteran, Scott Gustavson served in the United States Marine Corps; he began his professional career as a stockbroker and worked in San Francisco for 10 years; and
WHEREAS, Scott Gustavson later moved to Loudoun County, eventually becoming president of Windward Commercial Real Estate Services; he became active in redevelopment efforts in Leesburg as his company owned several prominent buildings in town, including the Lightfoot restaurant and the Leesburg Today building; and
WHEREAS, in promoting downtown revitalization for Leesburg, Scott Gustavson was a chair of the Leesburg Economic Development Commission and served on the Leesburg Downtown Improvement Association; he was a member of the board of Loudoun Habitat for Humanity; and
WHEREAS, with a strong vision for Leesburg’s future, Scott Gustavson was actively involved in planning the redevelopment of the former Barber and Ross property, which will be renamed Crescent Place; and
WHEREAS, Scott Gustavson, a man of faith, was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Purcellville; he was an enthusiastic sailor and frequently competed in offshore races; and
WHEREAS, Scott Gustavson will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Colleen; their children, Finn, Declan, and Britta; his mother, Joyce; his father and stepmother, Carl and Viki; and many other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Scott Henry Gustavson, a strong advocate and promoter of the town of Leesburg, a successful real estate broker, an avid sailor, a friend to many people, and a devoted husband and father; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Scott Henry Gustavson as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
