SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 289
Celebrating the life of Julian H. Council.

WHEREAS, Julian H. Council, a loyal employee of the Ford Motor Company and a devoted husband and father in Chesapeake, died on December 19, 2014; and

WHEREAS, a native of North Carolina, Julian Council was affectionately known as Spur by friends and family members; and

WHEREAS, Julian Council pursued employment with the Ford Motor Company as a machinist at the Norfolk Assembly Plant; he worked there for almost 46 years, winning numerous awards for his creativity and exceptional craftsmanship; and

WHEREAS, after his well-earned retirement, Julian Council enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his beloved family; and

WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Julian Council enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer of the Amen Sunday School class; and

WHEREAS, Julian Council will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 44 years, Anne; children, Julian, Jr., Shirley, and Steve, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Julian H. Council, a dedicated employee of the Ford Motor Company and an active member of the Chesapeake community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Julian H. Council as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
