Commending Sandra Levin.

WHEREAS, Sandra Levin, the admired longtime president and chief executive officer of the Virginia Association of Nonprofit Homes for the Aging, retired on November 5, 2014, after 27 years of service; and

WHEREAS, founded in 1973, the Virginia Association of Nonprofit Homes for the Aging is a statewide organization of not-for-profit retirement housing communities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and continuing care retirement communities; and

WHEREAS, Sandra Levin helped the association thrive, and under her able leadership as president and chief executive officer for 27 years, the association enabled not-for-profit retirement communities to care for Virginia’s seniors, who are not only living longer, healthier lives but also remaining active in their communities at an older age and remaining productive members of the Commonwealth longer than ever before; and

WHEREAS, Sandra Levin not only assisted in the development of more effective services for seniors but also advocated for the passage of legislation and regulations that ensure the protection and well-being of Virginia’s senior population; and

WHEREAS, with her vibrant personality and gifted wit, Sandra Levin helped maintain the association’s welcoming and passionate atmosphere and ensured its smooth operation; and

WHEREAS, through her leadership and professionalism, Sandra Levin leaves a legacy of excellence in the long-term care industry; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Sandra Levin for her 27 years of service on the occasion of her retirement as president and chief executive officer of the Virginia Association of Nonprofit Homes for the Aging; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sandra Levin as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for her dedication and contributions to the long-term care industry throughout the Commonwealth.
