15101725DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That Chapter 433 of the Acts of Assembly of 1962 is amended by adding sections numbered 3-8 and 7-A.6 as follows:
§ 3-8. Unmanned aerial vehicles.
The town council, by ordinance, may place limitations on the use within the corporate boundaries of the municipality of any powered aerial vehicle that carries no human operator and can fly autonomously or be piloted remotely, other than a flying model airplane or rocket used purely for sport or recreational purposes or a vehicle used by a law-enforcement agency.
§ 7-A.6. Preservation of trees during construction.
The town council, by ordinance, may require the owner, builder, or developer of a private new construction project to preserve certain trees existing on the building site.
