Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 1 of Title 23 a section numbered 23-9.2:15 as follows:

§ 23-9.2:15. Reporting of sexual assault; public and private institutions of higher education.

Each public or private institution of higher education that obtains information alleging that a violation of § 18.2-61, 18.2-67.1, 18.2-67.2, or 18.2-67.3 involving a student has occurred shall report, consistent with state and federal law, such information to the Department of Criminal Justice Services. Such information shall be reported in a manner that protects the identity of the victim from public disclosure.
