2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, Michael R. Frey, who has served as a member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors since 1992, and has represented the Sully District with distinction since its creation, will retire from the Board in 2015; and
WHEREAS, Michael Frey leaves a strong record of accomplishment as a Board member, including bringing the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum to the Sully District, making significant improvements to Route 28, expanding the Centreville Historic District, supporting the Fairfax County Animal Shelter and programs and ordinances to advance the welfare of animals, and bringing the World Police and Fire Games to Fairfax County; and
WHEREAS, among his other duties as a Board member, Michael Frey has worked tirelessly on land use issues, chairing the Board’s Development Process Committee since 1992; and
WHEREAS, Michael Frey has ably represented Fairfax County on a number of regional bodies, including the Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments’ Transportation Planning Board and the Inova Health Care Services Board; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his six terms of service on the Board, Michael Frey worked for 13 years as staff in Board offices, dedicating 37 years to Fairfax County; and
WHEREAS, Michael Frey will be remembered for his annual participation in fundraising for research on cures for childhood cancer by shaving his head for “St. Baldrick’s Day” and for always having a treat in his pocket for working dogs who visited Board meetings; and
WHEREAS, Michael Frey is well-known for his bipartisan approach to governing, his diligent constituent service, his long-time involvement in his community, his passion for sports, and his love of animals; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Michael R. Frey hereby be commended for his many years of dedicated public service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Michael R. Frey as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect and admiration for his tireless work on behalf of the people of Fairfax County and the Commonwealth.
