HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 316 Commending the Christiansburg High School wrestling team.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 27, 2015

 

WHEREAS, the Christiansburg High School wrestling team won the Virginia High School League Group 3A state championship on February 20, 2015 to claim its 14th consecutive state wrestling title; and

WHEREAS, after a dominant 149.5-point victory in the regional tournament, the Christiansburg High School Blue Demons advanced to the state finals at the Salem Civic Center; the team stayed focused even when the two-day event was compressed to one day due to inclement weather; and

WHEREAS, the Christiansburg High School Blue Demons won the day with three individual champions, finishing with 153 points and topping the runners-up by 68.5 points; and

WHEREAS, Christiansburg High School’s Marshall Keller secured an 8 - 0 victory in the 120-pound final, Hunter Bolen won 9 - 0 in the 138-pound final, and Creed Lumpp won in the 152-pound final; and

WHEREAS, the victory is a testament to the skill and determination of the student-athletes, the leadership of the coaches and staff, and the enthusiastic support of the entire Christiansburg High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Christiansburg High School wrestling team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Group 3A state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Christiansburg High School wrestling team as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the team’s achievements and best wishes for the future.
