HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 282 Offered February 24, 2015 Commending the Hidden Valley High School boys' swim team. ---------- Patron-- Habeeb ----------

WHEREAS, the 2014 – 2015 Hidden Valley High School boys’ swim team won the Virginia High School League Group 3A swim and dive championship on February 20, 2015; and

WHEREAS, the victory is the Hidden Valley High School boys’ swim team’s third consecutive state title; the talented swimmers from Roanoke County have a consistently strong lineup and performed well at the state swim and dive meet; and

WHEREAS, the Hidden Valley High School swimmers defeated a talented second-place team from Lafayette High School by a score of 286 points to 256 points at the state meet, which was held at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center; and

WHEREAS, sophomore Greg Reed, who joined the Hidden Valley High School boys’ swim team this school year, broke two state records at the championship meet, in the 200-yard freestyle event and the 500-yard freestyle event; and

WHEREAS, Danielle Dillon, head coach of the Hidden Valley High School boys’ swim team, was pleased that the swimmers were victorious in what she thought would be their stiffest competition of the 2014 – 2015 season; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Hidden Valley High School boys’ swim team received strong support from their families during the swim and dive season; the students, faculty, and the entire school community also greatly encouraged the team throughout its third consecutive championship season; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Hidden Valley High School boys’ swim team hereby be commended for winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 3A swim and dive championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Danielle Dillon, head coach of the Hidden Valley High School boys’ swim team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for the team’s stellar achievement.
