HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 244
Commending the Stone Bridge High School girls' swim team.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 20, 2015

 

WHEREAS, the Stone Bridge High School girls’ swim team won the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 5A Conference 14 championship, continuing a strong season for the talented swimmers from Ashburn; and

WHEREAS, the Stone Bridge High School swimmers decisively defeated second-place Broad Run High School by a score of 424 to 327.5 points at the conference meet, which was held on January 30, 2015; in all, a total of six schools participated in the Conference 14 championship meet; and

WHEREAS, the 2015 conference win was especially gratifying for the members of the team from Loudoun County as they placed second at the 2014 conference meet; that loss made the Stone Bridge High School swimmers work harder throughout the year; and

WHEREAS, the Stone Bridge Bulldogs won the meet’s three relay events: the 200-yard medley relay, the 200-yard freestyle relay, and the 400-yard freestyle relay; the four swimmers on the 200-yard freestyle relay team broke a school record from 2009 with a time of 1:41.52; and

WHEREAS, the depth of the Stone Bridge High School team was evident in its victories in the 200-yard freestyle race and the 100-yard butterfly event, both of which were won by Andi Mack; in the 100-yard breaststroke race, Lizzy Mandrgoc took first place; and

WHEREAS, the head coach of the Stone Bridge High School girls’ swim team, Katherine Hackett, cited the team’s depth of talent as a key factor in helping them to win the 2015 Conference 14 championship; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Stone Bridge Bulldogs girls’ swim team also received great support throughout the season from their families and from the students, staff, and fans of Stone Bridge High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Stone Bridge High School girls’ swim team hereby be commended for winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 5A Conference 14 championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Katherine Hackett, head coach of the Stone Bridge High School girls’ swim team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for the team’s talent, hard work, and success.
