15105369DWHEREAS, Paul P. Arrington of Haysi, who was a longtime member of the Haysi Town Council, former railroad engineer, retired store manager, member of several local civic and charitable organizations, a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, and a devoted husband, died on January 3, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Paul Arrington, who was born in Buchanan County, was the son of Robert and Bertha Arrington; he served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean conflict; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated public servant, Paul Arrington ably served on the Haysi Town Council for 25 years, providing advice and guidance to local officials and the residents of the town in Dickenson County in far Southwest Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Paul Arrington was an engineer for Norfolk & Western Railway, which is now part of Norfolk Southern Corporation, and he also was manager of a Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control store until he retired; and
WHEREAS, additionally, Paul Arrington made valuable contributions to the people of Dickenson County as a charter member of the Haysi Community Clinic; he also was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose and served on the board of directors of the Willowbrook Country Club in Breaks; and
WHEREAS; Paul Arrington will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by Rebecca, his wife of 41 years, and by many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Paul P. Arrington of Haysi, who was a longtime member of the Haysi Town Council, former railroad engineer, retired store manager, member of several local civic and charitable organizations, a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, and a devoted husband; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Paul P. Arrington as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
