2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, George Pryde ably served his fellow Lexington residents on the Lexington City Council, where he worked to strengthen and enhance the community; and
WHEREAS, desirous to be of service to the community, George Pryde ran for and was elected to the Lexington City Council in 2010; he served as vice mayor and chaired the Physical Services Committee; and
WHEREAS, George Pryde also represented the best interests of the Lexington community on the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission; and
WHEREAS, George Pryde helped found the Lexington Police Department Foundation, and he is a former board member of the Rockbridge Area Health Center; and
WHEREAS, proud of the region’s and the Commonwealth’s unique contributions to American history, George Pryde is a longtime historical interpreter at the Stonewall Jackson House, a member of the Rockbridge Historical Society, and a member of the Lexington Civil War Roundtable; and
WHEREAS, working to further enhance the quality of life in the region, George Pryde founded the Rockbridge Readers reading group in 2003, and he is a former president of the Lexington Sunrise Rotary Club; he also teaches the Junior Achievement program at Central Elementary School; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend George Pryde for his service as a member of the Lexington City Council; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to George Pryde as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his achievements and best wishes for the future.
