2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, Robert J. Zoldos of Leesburg, a volunteer firefighter, public servant, and expert in the field of aviation, died on February 7, 2015; and
WHEREAS, a native of Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, Robert “Bob” J. Zoldos attended Waynesburg University and graduated from Shepherd University; and
WHEREAS, Bob Zoldos began his career in aviation as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration in 1968; he served as the deputy chief of the Dulles Airport tower and offered his expertise as a consultant to flight traffic and aviation companies; and
WHEREAS, Bob Zoldos dedicated much of his life to serving others, and he had courageously safeguarded the lives and property of his fellow residents as a life member of the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as treasurer, assistant chief, president, and fire chief; and
WHEREAS, deeply respected among his peers, Bob Zoldos was a member of the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Association and mentored other first responders as a Virginia State Fire Instructor; and
WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service to the community, Bob Zoldos ran for and was elected to the Leesburg Town Council, where he served for eight years and was a valued member of many committees and commissions; and
WHEREAS, Bob Zoldos supported the youth of the community as a coach, manager, umpire, and former president of Central Loudoun Little League, and he was active with Central Loudoun Pee-Wee League; and
WHEREAS, Bob Zoldos will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Kay; children, Robert II and Thomas, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Robert J. Zoldos, a firefighter, public servant, and aviation expert; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert J. Zoldos as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
