2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, in 2015, Charles William McKay, a dedicated public servant and community leader, retires as a member of the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors after 16 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Charles McKay worked to serve and safeguard members of the community as a law-enforcement officer with the Hampden-Sydney College Police Department; he joined the department in 1978, became a full-time officer in 1989, and retired in 2002; and
WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service to his fellow residents, Charles McKay took office on the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors on January 1, 2000; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors, Charles McKay proudly worked to maintain efficient, effective public services, while keeping taxes low; and
WHEREAS, Charles McKay also focused on strengthening roads and infrastructure and ensuring that the students of the community had the tools and support to achieve success in school; and
WHEREAS, after his well-earned retirement, Charles McKay hopes to find new opportunities to serve the community and become more active in his church; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Charles William McKay on the occasion of his retirement as a member of the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Charles William McKay as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his diligent service to the members of the Prince Edward community and the Commonwealth.
