2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, in 2014, Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church in Danville celebrated 100 years of spiritual leadership and service to the community through regular worship services, ministries, and outreach programs; and
WHEREAS, throughout its long history, Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church has worked to fulfill its mission to worship God and love and serve others, help members of the community grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and actively share the Gospel throughout the community and the world; and
WHEREAS, Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church offers regular Sunday services and children’s church as well as Wednesday evening Bible study and Sunday school classes for adults, adolescents, and children; and
WHEREAS, providing additional opportunities for worship and growth, Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church also offers a children’s ministry, youth ministry, senior ministry, bereavement outreach ministry, and men’s and women’s fellowship ministries; and
WHEREAS, Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church provides opportunities to praise God through the joy of music with its choirs, praise team, and seasonal music concerts and productions; and
WHEREAS, valuing the power of evangelism, Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church encourages and supports mission trips in the Danville area, the United States, and the world; and
WHEREAS, Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church celebrated its 100th anniversary on October 26, 2014, with a morning worship service followed by a fellowship luncheon, featuring numerous honored guests and members of the congregation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the church’s contributions and service to the Danville community.
