2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, in 2015, ABATE of Virginia, Inc., a motorcyclists’ rights organization, celebrates 40 years of work to preserve the freedom of the road and promote safe riding practices; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia branch of ABATE, which stands for A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments, was established in 1975; and
WHEREAS, the safe operation of a motorcycle requires skills developed through a combination of training and experience, good judgment, and knowledge of traffic laws; ABATE works with the Virginia Rider Training Program to promote safety and training courses; and
WHEREAS, ABATE of Virginia encourages motorcyclists to participate in motorcycle ministries, riding clubs, sport bike clubs, touring clubs, and all other motorcycling organizations; and
WHEREAS, ABATE of Virginia supports the motorcycling community with charity rides and other events to raise awareness and money for worthy causes; and
WHEREAS, ABATE of Virginia works with the members of the General Assembly and the Governor to promote responsible motorcycle legislation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend ABATE of Virginia, Inc., on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to ABATE of Virginia, Inc., as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the organization’s contributions to the Commonwealth.
