Commending Dolores A. Moore.

WHEREAS, Dolores A. Moore, who has served the residents of Chesapeake with great diligence and effectiveness as city clerk for more than 20 years, retires on February 1, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Moore was appointed city clerk in 1994; the Office of the Municipal Clerk is the liaison between the citizens of Chesapeake and the members of the Chesapeake City Council; and

WHEREAS, with a total of 30 years of municipal government experience, Dolores Moore has ably supervised the municipal clerk’s office in Chesapeake for the past two decades; earlier in her career, she worked for the City of Portsmouth for 10 years; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Moore earned a certified municipal clerk’s designation in 1991 and was designated a master municipal clerk in 2002; she also attended Tidewater Community College, where she earned career certifications in accounting and business administration; and

WHEREAS, among the professional organizations that have benefited from Dolores Moore’s involvement are the Virginia Municipal Clerks Association (VMCA), the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, and the Virginia Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Moore’s involvement with the VMCA is extensive; she has been a member since 1988 and has held several leadership positions, including serving as president in 2004 - 2005; she was honored as the association’s Clerk of the Year in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Moore has played an active role on the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council and the Chesapeake 50th Anniversary Executive Committee, and she has been a member of the board of the William A. Hunton YMCA since 2012; and

WHEREAS, other civic associations that Dolores Moore has belonged to and to which she has made valuable contributions are the Sister Cities Committee of Chesapeake, Inc., and the Chesapeake City Symbol Committee; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Dolores A. Moore, who retired as clerk of the City of Chesapeake on February 1, 2015, and who served the residents of Chesapeake with great diligence and effectiveness for more than 20 years; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dolores A. Moore as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect and admiration for her many years of dedicated service to the people of Chesapeake and best wishes in her retirement.
