15104534DWHEREAS, Maid Bright of Sterling was honored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Cornerstones, Inc., with a prestigious 2015 Best of Reston Award in the Small Business Leader category; and
WHEREAS, the Best of Reston awards honor individuals, organizations, and companies that have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to helping others and improving the lives of people throughout the greater Reston area; and
WHEREAS, Yusuf and Zeynep Mehmetoglu founded the successful small business 10 years ago and with hard work and close relationships with their extended family, employees, and customers, Maid Bright has become a successful family-owned business; and
WHEREAS, the residential cleaning company serves customers in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.; the goal of Maid Bright’s owners is to provide the highest level of service to their clients and support vital causes as a way of leaving a legacy; and
WHEREAS, in addition to focusing on the company, Yusuf Mehmetoglu is dedicated to giving back; the owners of Maid Bright recognize that helping others fosters a sense of community and helps to make it a better place to live; and
WHEREAS, Maid Bright takes part in Cleaning for a Reason, a program for women with cancer; participants receive four complimentary house cleanings—Maid Bright’s owners and staff realize that a clean and tidy home helps reduce stress for a patient undergoing treatment and allows her to focus on healing; and
WHEREAS, Maid Bright also has provided catered dinners for the past two years for Reston’s hypothermia shelter program and participated in the 2013 Love Your Body fundraiser for Cornerstones, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Cornerstones, Inc., which works to provide affordable housing and helps people build more stable lives, also receives free cleaning services from Maid Bright; each month, the company completely cleans one of Cornerstones’ housing units after the occupant has moved, providing a sparkling and shiny home for the next tenant; and
WHEREAS, Maid Bright regularly offers cleaning discounts to senior citizens, military veterans, firefighters, and teachers; many people throughout Northern Virginia look forward to and benefit from the company’s commitment to cleanliness and charity; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Maid Bright of Sterling for its dedication to giving back to the community and its well-deserved honor as a 2015 Best of Reston Award recipient in the Small Business Leader category; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Yusuf and Zeynep Mehmetoglu, owners of Maid Bright, as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect and admiration for its commitment to improving the lives of its employees and customers and the greater Reston community.
