HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 779 Offered February 6, 2015 Commending the Palisades Restaurant. ---------- Patrons-- Yost; Senator: Edwards ----------

WHEREAS, the Palisades Restaurant in Eggleston, a cozy, innovative fine-dining destination, has served residents of and visitors to Giles County for six years; and

WHEREAS, opened in January 2009, the Palisades Restaurant formerly housed C. C. Whitaker & Co., and the Q. M. Pyne Store, a social hub of the Eggleston community; the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Shaena Muldoon, a native of nearby Pembroke, established the Palisades Restaurant after a distinguished 20-year career as a high-profile event planner throughout the United States and the world; and

WHEREAS, sitting on the scenic bank of the New River, the Palisades Restaurant offers exceptional service and warm, country hospitality to regulars and visitors; the restaurant features an open kitchen with a beautiful stone hearth oven and often entertains diners with live music; and

WHEREAS, the contemporary American cuisine at the Palisades Restaurant features local ingredients, such as pork, beef, trout, and produce, to ensure freshness and support the local economy; the chef utilizes unique preparations to enhance the dining experience, and the restaurant is also known for its hand-tossed pizzas with creative, seasonal toppings; and

WHEREAS, like many small businesses in the Commonwealth, the Palisades Restaurant gives back to the community and plays an essential role in defining unique, local culture; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Palisades Restaurant on the occasion of its sixth anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Shaena Muldoon, owner and manager of the Palisades Restaurant, as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the restaurant’s service to the Giles County community.
