2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, Libby Davidson, a top runner at E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, has been named the Virginia Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year for 2014 - 2015; and
WHEREAS, Libby Davidson, a sophomore at E.C. Glass High School, won the Virginia High School League Group 4A individual state championship for girls cross country for two consecutive years—in 2013 and 2014; and
WHEREAS, one of the ninth grade victories Libby Davidson is proudest of was winning the freshman two-mile race at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals competition in June 2014; she ran against talented athletes from around the country and posted a time of 10:42:19; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the E.C. Glass Hilltoppers girls cross country team, Libby Davidson set a record in 2014 at HumanKind, the school’s home 5K course, with a time of 17:41 in a conference championship meet in October; and
WHEREAS, Libby Davidson ran an impressive 17:07 at the 2014 Great American Cross Country festival in North Carolina, and in November, the talented and hardworking athlete competed in the Foot Locker Cross Country South Regional championships, posting a time of 16:56; later, at the Foot Locker national competition, she placed sixth in the nation for high school cross country runners, with a time of 17:48; and
WHEREAS, Libby Davidson also was a finalist for the 2014 Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Student-Athlete Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, the Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year Award is given to a student who excels athletically and academically; Libby Davidson, who maintains a 4.22 GPA in school, credits the support of her parents, coaches, and fellow team members for helping her to succeed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Libby Davidson, a top runner at E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, for being named the Virginia Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year for 2014 - 2015; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to one of the Commonwealth’s most talented athletes, Libby Davidson, as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration and congratulations for her outstanding accomplishments and best wishes for the future.
