HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 776
Celebrating the life of Wainola Inez Campbell Holloman.

WHEREAS, Wainola Inez Campbell Holloman of Newport News, a successful entrepreneur and small-business person who founded the Holloman Childhood Development and Education Centers, an advocate for families and small businesses, and a devoted mother and grandmother, died on December 20, 2014; and

WHEREAS, the Holloman Childhood Development and Education Centers, which Inez Holloman started in 1972, currently have locations in Williamsburg and York County; the facilities provide quality child care and education to infants and children; and

WHEREAS, during her career, Inez Holloman became involved in public policy as it related to families and small businesses; she was appointed by President James Earl Carter to serve as chair of the United States Small Business Administration Region III Advisory Commission; and

WHEREAS, Inez Holloman was twice named Small-Business Person of the Year by local and state chambers of commerce and was a founding member of the Proprietary Child Care Association of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, as a spokesperson for owners and operators of child-care centers in the Commonwealth, Inez Holloman worked closely with members of the General Assembly to devise child-care policies and legislation for the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Inez Holloman was appointed by governors L. Douglas Wilder and George Allen to the state Council on Child Day Care and Early Childhood Programs and used her experience both as a founder and operator of successful child-care centers to provide wise guidance and counsel; and

WHEREAS, Inez Holloman will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her children, Bonnie, Betty, Vernon, and Bart, and their families; other family members and friends; and the many families whose children attended Holloman Childhood Development and Education Centers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Wainola Inez Campbell Holloman of Newport News, founder of the Holloman Childhood Development and Education Centers, a successful entrepreneur who was a highly effective advocate for families and small businesses, and a devoted mother and grandmother; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Wainola Inez Campbell Holloman as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
