2015 SESSION
15104209DWHEREAS, the Atlee High School girls’ indoor track and field team of Hanover County captured the 2014 Virginia High School League Group 5A state indoor track championship with an impressive effort from the entire team; and
WHEREAS, the athletes from Atlee High School defeated a talented team from Mills Godwin High School at the state meet by a score of 67 points to 50 points; the competition was held on March 1, 2014, at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton; and
WHEREAS, in the field events at the state championship meet, the Atlee Raiders were outstanding; team members demonstrated tremendous skill and placed in the triple jump, high jump, shot put, and pole vault; and
WHEREAS, the depth of the Atlee High School girls’ indoor track and field team also was evident as the runners performed extremely well in the 55-meter hurdles, 55-meter dash, 1600-meter run, 300-meter dash, 3200-meter run, 4 x 800-meter relay, and the 4 x 200-meter relay; and
WHEREAS, each athlete’s persistence and determination to perform at her highest level during the 2014 state championship meet combined to put the Atlee High School girls’ indoor track and field team on top; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Atlee High School girls’ indoor track and field team train under James Triemplar, who has been the track coach at the school since it opened in 1991; he coaches all three of Atlee’s running teams and is one of the most winning coaches at the school; and
WHEREAS, the 2014 championship title is a tribute to the hard work of the athletes, the encouragement and training of Coach Triemplar, and the great support shown by the parents and the entire Atlee High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Atlee High School girls’ indoor track and field team for winning the 2014 Group 5A state indoor track championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to James Triemplar, head coach of the Atlee High School girls’ indoor track and field team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the team’s stellar accomplishment and standout season.
