HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 763 Offered February 5, 2015 Celebrating the life of Charles Paul Ajemian. ---------- Patrons-- Bell, Richard P. and Landes; Senator: Hanger ----------

WHEREAS, Charles Paul Ajemian of Waynesboro, a respected, longtime Commonwealth’s Attorney and a community leader who was generous with his time and talents, died on May 14, 2014; and

WHEREAS, a native of South Boston, Massachusetts, Charles “Chuck” Paul Ajemian relocated to Richmond with his family and graduated from Benedictine High School; he earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Vincent College, where he was later inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame, and a law degree from the University of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Ajemian moved to Waynesboro in 1967 and practiced law with Ajemian & McGratty for many years; and

WHEREAS, elected as the Commonwealth’s Attorney in 1997, Chuck Ajemian faithfully served the residents of Waynesboro for more than a decade, winning election to his fifth term in 2013; and

WHEREAS, actively serving and supporting the youths of the community, Chuck Ajemian volunteered his time with Little League Baseball and the YMCA, where he cofounded the Waynesboro Basketball Club; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Ajemian enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he had served as a CCD instructor; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Ajemian will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 47 years, Anne Marie; sons, Charles, Jr., Jean-Claude, Erik, Lucas, and Jason, and their families; and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Charles Paul Ajemian, the longtime Commonwealth’s Attorney in Waynesboro and an active member of the community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Charles Paul Ajemian as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
