2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, Bette Worsham Hawkins Dunford of Richmond, a hardworking and active supporter of the community, died on September 28, 2014; and
WHEREAS, a native of Tazewell County, Bette Dunford earned a bachelor’s degree from Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia and a master’s degree from the University of Richmond; and
WHEREAS, Bette Dunford began her professional career in civil service, working for the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C., before she relocated to Culpeper, then Richmond; and
WHEREAS, Bette Dunford proudly fostered lifelong learning skills as a librarian at St. Christopher’s Lower School for 25 years; and
WHEREAS, an active supporter of fine arts and culture in Richmond, Bette Dunford volunteered her time and talents with the Women’s Committee of the Richmond Symphony and the Virginia Museum Council; and
WHEREAS, Bette Dunford also worked to enhance the quality of life of her fellow residents with Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Tuckahoe Woman’s Club, the Westwood Club, and the Country Club of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Bette Dunford cared deeply for her family, and she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by numerous family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Bette Worsham Hawkins Dunford, a hardworking and admired member of the Richmond community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Bette Worsham Hawkins Dunford as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
