Commending the Hidden Valley High School golf team.

WHEREAS, the Hidden Valley High School golf team won the 2014 Virginia High School League Group 3A golf championship, the first time the school has claimed the state title; and

WHEREAS, the determined and hardworking golfers from Roanoke won the tournament on October 14, 2014, at Ivy Hill Golf Club in Forest; they were a nine-shot winner over the talented second-place team from Loudoun Valley High School; and

WHEREAS, the Roanoke County golfers were single-minded in their pursuit of victory after a disappointing third-place finish in 2013—their first trip to the state finals; during the 2014 season, the team practiced diligently, and the previous year’s experience also held them in good stead; and

WHEREAS, the Hidden Valley High School golf team learned to be patient and to handle unexpected situations; when heavy rain forced officials to end the tournament early, the Titans were in the lead, and the group was ecstatic upon being named state champions; and

WHEREAS, the Hidden Valley Titans were led by captains Zach Efkeman, Kristin Hearp, and Zach Sinozich; coach Brian Harris said the conditions and weather were in the team’s favor during the state championship rounds as the group often had practiced in similar situations; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Hidden Valley High School golf team for winning the 2014 Virginia High School League Group 3A golf championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brian Harris, head coach of the Hidden Valley High School golf team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the team’s championship performance.
