2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Vienna celebrates 50 years of placing “Service Above Self” in 2015; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1905, Rotary International brings together thousands of business and professional leaders to provide philanthropic and humanitarian services and spread goodwill throughout the world; the Rotary Club of Vienna was chartered in 1965; and
WHEREAS, members of the Rotary Club of Vienna generously volunteer their time and talents to enhance the quality of life of their fellow residents; the organization supports dozens of local charitable and service groups and donates hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants each year; and
WHEREAS, at the international level, the Rotary Club of Vienna supports efforts to eradicate polio, a clean water project in Cameroon and Zambia, and various medical, childcare, and educational initiatives throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Vienna has earned numerous awards and accolades for its good work, including the Best Club Service Award, Best Vocational Service Award, Literacy Award, District Governor Citation Award, Best International Service Award, Membership Award, Best All-Around Club Award, Best Small Club Bulletin Award, Community Service Award, Presidential Citation Award, and the Outstanding Club Award; and
WHEREAS, owing much of its success to the hard work of countless volunteers over the years, the Rotary Club of Vienna presents an annual award honoring individuals for outstanding citizenship and service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Rotary Club of Vienna for its long tradition of service on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Rotary Club of Vienna as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for its numerous contributions to the Vienna community and communities around the world.
