Celebrating the life of Bobby Wayne Elliott.

WHEREAS, Bobby Wayne Elliott of Fries, a longtime member of the Fries Volunteer Fire Department, a devoted husband and father, and a successful small business owner, died on August 5, 2014; and

WHEREAS, a native of Fries and a graduate of Galax High School, Bobby Elliott received an associate’s degree in business; he also proudly served in the nation’s military for six years as a member of the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, for two decades Bobby Elliott worked to help his neighbors and the community as a member of the Fries Volunteer Fire Department; throughout his 20 years of service, he was dedicated to fire prevention and to helping keep his neighbors and their valued belongings from harm; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Elliott, who was the owner of Elliott’s Tax Service in Fries, was a man of deep faith; he belonged to Baywood Wesleyan Church in Galax where he was treasurer and also held other leadership positions; in addition, he was a member of The Gideons International Fries Camp; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Elliott will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by Darlene, his wife of 47 years; his sons, Gary and Jimmy, and their families; and by many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a devoted family man, entrepreneur, and dedicated volunteer firefighter, Bobby Wayne Elliott; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Bobby Wayne Elliott as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
