2015 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Carroll County Future Farmers of America placed seventh in the National Future Farmers of America Forestry Career Development Event in 2014; and
WHEREAS, the Carroll County Future Farmers of America (FFA) Forestry team competed against 40 other teams from around the nation; each member of the team—Jared Boyd, Cole Davis, Gregory Hickerson, and Thomas Largen—performed admirably and earned a gold emblem; and
WHEREAS, coached by Alan Webb, the team displayed exceptional knowledge of trees, tree diseases, forestry tools, wood products, and other subjects; and
WHEREAS, during the national event, the Carroll County FFA Forestry team participated in a general knowledge exam, tree identification, timber cruising, a chainsaw practicum, an interview on forestry issues, and a team activity; and
WHEREAS, the Carroll County FFA Forestry team won events at local and state levels to advance to the national event, held in the Bernheim Forest in Clermont, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Carroll County FFA have gained valuable experience and skills that will help them better serve the Commonwealth as farmers, forestry professionals, leaders, and responsible stewards of the environment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Carroll County Future Farmers of America on the Forestry team’s performance at the 2014 National Future Farmers of America Forestry Career Development Event; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Carroll County Future Farmers of America as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the award-winning team’s achievements and best wishes for the future.
