2015 SESSION
15101437DWHEREAS, the Braemar Blasters swim team won the 2014 Prince William Swim League Blue Division championship, the first time since 1989 that the title has changed hands; and
WHEREAS, with a score of 4,356.5 points, the Braemar Blasters of Bristow decisively defeated two talented teams, the Sudley Seahorses, who earned 3,754 points, and the Piedmont Tsunami swimmers, who had 3,413.5 points; and
WHEREAS, unseating the long-victorious Sudley team, which held the crown for 25 years, was a cause for jubilation for the Braemar swimmers and coaches; it also was a culmination of the team’s hard work and training all season long; and
WHEREAS, with a 6 - 0 record heading into the division finals, the Braemar Blasters knew that the victory was within reach; the swimmers were especially motivated because the team had lost the 2013 Blue Division championship to Sudley by only a few points; and
WHEREAS, Will Gideonse, head coach of the Braemar Blasters, attributed the team’s win to the swimmers’ determination and hard work; more than 62 percent of the team improved their times during the 2014 season, and during the final competition many swimmers achieved personal bests; and
WHEREAS, many people contributed to the Braemar Blasters’ winning season, including the coaching staff, parents, siblings, friends, the community, and the swimmers themselves, as demonstrated by their strong effort; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Braemar Blasters swim team for winning the 2014 Prince William Swim League Blue Division championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Will Gideonse, head coach of the Braemar Blasters swim team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for a winning season.
