SB 657 Alternative onsite sewage system installers; extension of certain interim licenses.

SUMMARY AS ENACTED WITH GOVERNOR'S RECOMMENDATION:

Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals; onsite sewage installers and operators. Directs the Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals to extend one time and deem to be valid interim licenses as an alternative onsite sewage system installer held by an individual at such time as the individual applies and meets the eligibility criteria to take the examination required for issuance of an alternative onsite sewage system installer license. A license extended in accordance with this act shall be valid until such time as the individual receives a passing score on the examination required for issuance of a license as an alternative onsite sewage system installer or until December 31, 2014, whichever occurs sooner. This bill contains an emergency clause.

Directs the Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals to extend one time and deem to be valid interim licenses as an alternative onsite sewage system installer held by an individual at such time as the individual applies to take the examination required for issuance of an alternative onsite sewage system installer license. SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:

Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals; onsite sewage installers and operators. Provides that the Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals shall not require applicants for initial licensure as an alternative onsite sewage system installer or a conventional or alternative onsite sewage system operator to pass an examination prior to the issuance of such license, provided that the applicant satisfactorily demonstrates to the Board that he (i) has been actively engaged in the performance of duties of a conventional onsite sewage system installer for at least eight years within the 12-year period immediately preceding the date of application for licensure, (ii) currently holds or has held an interim license for the license sought, and (iii) has obtained the minimum continuing professional education hours required for the interim license.

Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals; onsite sewage installers and operators. Provides that the Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals shall not require applicants for initial licensure as an alternative onsite sewage system installer or a conventional or alternative onsite sewage system operator to pass an examination prior to the issuance of such license, provided that the applicant satisfactorily demonstrates to the Board that he has been actively engaged in the performance of duties of a conventional onsite sewage system installer for at least eight years within the 12-year period immediately preceding the date of application for licensure. Currently, this exemption from examination only applies to applicants for initial licensure as a conventional onsite sewage system installer. The bill contains an emergency clause
