SUMMARY AS PASSED: (all summaries)

Independent living services; individuals between 18 and 21 years of age. Requires local departments of social services and child-placing agencies to provide independent living services to any person between 18 and 21 years of age who is transitioning from a commitment to the Department of Juvenile Justice to self-sufficiency when such individual was in the custody of the local department of social services immediately prior to his commitment, provides written notice of his intent to receive independent living services, and enters into a written agreement for independent living services with the local board of social services or child-placing agency within 60 days of his release. Currently, local departments and child-placing agencies may but are not required to provide independent living services to such individuals. This bill is identical to HB 668.
