SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Recognition of embryo adoptions. Provides that a legal embryo custodian may relinquish all legal rights to and legal responsibilities for an embryo through a written contract to an intended recipient parent prior to an embryo transfer, thus making a child born to such intended recipient parent the legal adoptive child of the intended recipient parent. In addition to the written contract between parties, the bill provides for an expedited adoption process for an intended recipient parent prior to the birth of a child or following the birth of a child and provides that an adoptive parent as a result of an embryo transfer may be issued a certificate of live birth or of fetal demise, as appropriate, when the child is born.
