SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Elected school boards; tie breaker. Requires the tie breaker of any elected school board to be elected in the same manner and for the same length of term as the members of the school board and at a general election at which members of the school board are elected. Currently, tie breakers for elected school boards are appointed by the school board. The bill does not require elected school boards to have a tie breaker. The provisions of this bill do not affect the term of any tie breaker appointed by an elected school board prior to July 1, 2014.
