2014 SESSION
14102824DWHEREAS, three major highways, the Dulles Greenway, the Dulles Toll Road, and the Dulles Access Highway, provide vital highway transportation links between Dulles International Airport and surrounding localities; and
WHEREAS, in order to provide one source of funding for extending Metrorail service to Dulles Airport, tolls imposed and collected for use of the Dulles Toll Road have been increased; and
WHEREAS, of these three facilities, only the Dulles Access Highway is toll-free; and
WHEREAS, if tolls were to be imposed and collected for use of the Dulles Access Highway, additional revenues could be generated for the rail-to-Dulles project, and increases in tolls imposed and collected for use of the Dulles Toll Road could be moderated; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the Congress of the United States be hereby memorialized to take any legislative action necessary to facilitate the imposition and collection of tolls for use of the Dulles Access Highway in order to reduce tolls for use of the Dulles Toll Road; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates transmit copies of this resolution to the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the President of the United States Senate, and the members of the Virginia Congressional Delegation so that they may be apprised of the sense of the General Assembly of Virginia in this matter.
