14102358DWHEREAS, Virginia's veterans deserve our best efforts to address their supportive service needs; and
WHEREAS, there remain significant gaps between the needs of Virginia's veterans and the services provided to them; and
WHEREAS, in 2010 Virginia Tech published "Assessing Experiences, Supportive Service Needs, and Service Gaps of Veterans in the Commonwealth of Virginia"; and
WHEREAS, the data and findings from the 2010 Virginia Tech report are out of date and no longer reflect current statistics; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That Virginia Tech be requested to update its 2010 study report "Assessing Experiences, Supportive Service Needs, and Service Gaps of Veterans in the Commonwealth of Virginia."
Technical assistance shall be provided to Virginia Tech by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security. All agencies of the Commonwealth shall provide assistance to Virginia Tech in collecting the information, upon request.
Virginia Tech shall submit to the Division of Legislative Automated Systems an executive summary of its findings as contained in the updated report no later than the first day of the 2015 Regular Session of the General Assembly. The executive summary shall be submitted for publication as a report document as provided in the procedures of the Division of Legislative Automated Systems for the processing of legislative documents and reports and shall be posted on the General Assembly's website.
