SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Public schools; individual school performance grading system. Requires the Board of Education, by July 31, 2013, to approve student growth indicators for use in the accreditation of schools and the evaluation of teachers. The bill also defines "student growth" and requires the Board, by October 1, 2014, to report individual school performance using an A-to-F grading system that includes the standards of accreditation, state and federal accountability requirements, and student growth indicators. This bill is identical to HB 1999.
SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:
Public schools; individual school performance grading system. Requires the Board of Education, by October 1, 2015 to report individual school perfromance using a grading system in addition to the standards of accreditation. The grading system will be based on both state and federal accountability requirements and an A to F grading scale and will include student growth and the school's accreditation rating. The Board will make the system and the assigned grades available to the public.
