SUMMARY AS PASSED:

Student growth indicators. Requires the Board of Education to develop student growth indicators by October 1, 2014, to be used in the accreditation of schools and the evaluation of teachers. The bill also requires the Department of Education to submit an interim report on the development of the student growth indicators to the Governor and the General Assembly by December 1, 2013.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Student growth indicators; pilot program. Requires the Department of Education to establish a pilot program that explores the use and effectiveness of employing student growth indicators for school accountability and teacher evaluation. The bill requires the Department to give semiannual reports on the program to the Governor and the General Assembly. The program will expire on July 1, 2018.
