Commending Ken Aughenbaugh.

WHEREAS, Ken Aughenbaugh, a dedicated and compassionate public servant, retired as the housing director of the Arlington County Housing Division after 30 years of loyal service; and

WHEREAS, joining the Arlington County Housing Division in 1983, Ken Aughenbaugh oversaw projects to improve houses occupied by individuals with low and moderate incomes and developed partnerships that led to the creation of committed affordable housing units; and

WHEREAS, Ken Aughenbaugh became the Arlington County housing director in 2003 and spent the next decade providing exceptional leadership and oversight; he worked to develop additional committed affordable housing units and to increase the department’s ability to serve the community; and

WHEREAS, never losing sight of his mission to help the members of the Arlington community, Ken Aughenbaugh spearheaded initiatives that directly benefited countless local residents, including improvements to the Moderate Income Purchase Assistance Program, creating a mediation program, and working to ensure the equal treatment of residents facing displacement; and

WHEREAS, Ken Aughenbaugh also managed federal grants for community development and served the wider region by working with the Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments to encourage other areas to develop affordable housing; and

WHEREAS, with his many accomplishments, Ken Aughenbaugh leaves an unmatched legacy of integrity, fortitude, and care for the community to his fellow Arlington County residents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Ken Aughenbaugh on the occasion of his retirement after 30 years of public service as a member of the Arlington County Housing Division; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ken Aughenbaugh as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his work to ensure the well-being of his fellow residents.
