WHEREAS, Ed Robichaud was honored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Reston Interfaith, Inc., with a prestigious 2013 Best of Reston Award in the Individual Community Member category; and

WHEREAS, the Best of Reston Awards were established to recognize individuals, businesses, and organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the greater Reston community and improving the lives of others; and

WHEREAS, Ed Robichaud has generously given of his time and talents to enhance the quality of life of his fellow residents of Reston through volunteer work with numerous community service organizations and contributions to the Giving Circle of Hope, which provides grants to local organizations; and

WHEREAS, Ed Robichaud tutors children and prepares income tax returns for adults living at the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, teaches computer classes at the Reston Community Center, and plays second violin in the Reston Community Orchestra, where he also assists with set-ups and breakdowns at concerts; and

WHEREAS, Ed Robichaud serves on the Reston Bicycle Club’s board and works to ensure the success of the annual Century Ride; a skilled bike mechanic, he also volunteers with the Reston Association’s Bike Rodeo for children to make sure that the bikes are safe and that children’s helmets are properly fitted; and

WHEREAS, a founding member of the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park Trail patrol, Ed Robichaud trains new members in how to keep the trail safe and serves as the data coordinator for the patrol; and

WHEREAS, Ed Robichaud serves on the board of directors of the Reston Historic Trust and cheerfully volunteers as a docent at the Reston Museum in addition to serving as the museum’s webmaster and in any other needed roles; and

WHEREAS, as vice chair of the Reston Association’s Elections Committee, Ed Robichaud works alongside other committee members to vet candidates, hold forums, and oversee the fair election of candidates; and

WHEREAS, known for his quiet manner and willingness to help, Ed Robichaud has played a pivotal role in the success of numerous Reston initiatives and organizations while inspiring others with his positive and helpful manner; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Ed Robichaud on his many contributions to Reston and on his well-deserved honor as a 2013 Best of Reston Award recipient in the Individual Community Member category; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ed Robichaud as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for his tireless dedication to Reston.
