Celebrating the life of Grover Jasper Kimberlin.

WHEREAS, Grover Jasper Kimberlin, a World War II veteran who made many contributions to the Town of Clifton Forge through his civic and business endeavors, died on July 28, 2012; and

WHEREAS, a native of Clifton Forge, Grover “Jack” Kimberlin left his hometown to join in the Allied war effort as the United States entered World War II; and

WHEREAS, a member of the United States Army Air Corps and B-17 pilot, Jack Kimberlin bravely and skillfully flew 35 bombing missions over Europe and shared his experience and expertise with other pilots as an instructor; and

WHEREAS, at the conclusion of the war, Jack Kimberlin returned to Clifton Forge and embarked on a successful career in business, owning and operating several companies and playing a pivotal role in the construction of numerous businesses and homes in the area; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated public servant, Jack Kimberlin served several terms on the Clifton Forge Town Council and was also a member of the Alleghany County Water and Sewer Commission; and

WHEREAS, committed to the well-being and prosperity of the area, Jack Kimberlin worked diligently to ensure the efficient and effective operation of government and services for local residents; and

WHEREAS, Jack Kimberlin took an active role in the community through his affiliation with the Clifton Forge Lions Club, Clifton Forge Elks Club, Chesapeake and Ohio Historical Society, Cowpasture River Preservation Association, Clifton Forge Coffee Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4299; and

WHEREAS, a familiar face in the community, Jack Kimberlin touched the lives of countless individuals in his hometown through his commitment to serving others; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his wife, Peggie, and children, David and Eddie Bo, Jack Kimberlin will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his surviving children, Kim and Barry, and their families and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a respected citizen of Clifton Forge, Grover Jasper Kimberlin; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Grover Jasper Kimberlin as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
