2013 SESSION
WHEREAS, Earl Lloyd Chittum, a respected business owner from Stafford County who faithfully served his fellow residents through effective and conscientious public service, died on July 15, 2012; and
WHEREAS, a longtime resident of Stafford County, Lloyd Chittum took an active interest in the well-being and prosperity of the area, generously giving of his time and talents to serve on a wide array of community boards and commissions, while also providing outstanding service to his customers; and
WHEREAS, Lloyd Chittum ably represented the Hartwood District on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors from 1982 to 1985, including as vice chair from 1982 to 1983; and
WHEREAS, Lloyd Chittum worked alongside fellow supervisors, concerned citizens, and local officials to make significant improvements to Stafford County services and ensure the prudent management of fiscal resources to enhance opportunities for future growth and development; and
WHEREAS, Lloyd Chittum provided practical guidance and thoughtful insight as a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, Utilities Commission, and many others to better meet the needs of local residents; and
WHEREAS, an engaged citizen who believed in serving the community, Lloyd Chittum worked at the polls on election days and was a member of the Stafford County Republican Committee and life member of the Falmouth Volunteer Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, an outstanding role model, Lloyd Chittum coached Little League baseball and Pee Wee and Midget Football Leagues and volunteered to help children at the local juvenile detention center; and
WHEREAS, a member of Fairview at River Club Church, Lloyd Chittum was also a deacon at Falmouth Baptist Church, where he served on the benevolence committee and worked the sound system; and
WHEREAS, a man of great integrity, Lloyd Chittum reached out to those in need and leaves behind a legacy of service to the Stafford County community that others may strive to emulate; and
WHEREAS, predeceased by his daughter, Debra, Lloyd Chittum will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Gloria; surviving children, Larry, Earl, John, and Bobbie, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a dedicated public servant and community supporter, Earl Lloyd Chittum; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Earl Lloyd Chittum as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
