SENATE BILL NO. 1245 FLOOR AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by Senator Colgan on February 5, 2013) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Senator Colgan) A BILL to amend and reenact § 5.6 of Chapter 912 of the Acts of Assembly of 1993, which provided a charter for the City of Manassas Park, relating to schools.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That § 5.6 of Chapter 912 of the Acts of Assembly of 1993 is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 5.6. School division and school board.

A. The City of Manassas Park shall constitute a separate school division. The school board shall consist of five members, appointed by the Governing Body, and the terms are to be for a period of three years.

B. The school board shall be authorized to set the school calendar and determine the opening date of the school year.
