Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 22.1-279.10 as follows:

§ 22.1-279.10. Every school to have at least one school resource officer.

A. Each school board, in coordination with the local law-enforcement agency, shall provide at least one school resource officer as defined in § 9.1-101 for every elementary school within the district.

B. Any costs associated with the provisions of this section shall be paid out of the general appropriation act and not by any locality or school board.
