WHEREAS, Ralph E. McCray, a longtime resident of scenic Washington County in Southwest Virginia, died on October 9, 2012; and

WHEREAS, a valued member of the close-knit group of people who call Hayters Gap home, Ralph McCray was a good neighbor and active citizen who made many contributions to life in the small community; and

WHEREAS, a lifelong carpenter, Ralph McCray worked diligently on homes throughout the area; and

WHEREAS, a man of faith, Ralph McCray helped out at his church in whatever capacity he was needed, including superintendent of Sunday school, teacher of the adult class, and a variety of maintenance tasks; and

WHEREAS, one of 10 siblings, Ralph McCray placed great value in family; he and his wife, Lorene, raised two children, Janice and Michael, and enjoyed spending time with their five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom will greatly miss him; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of a respected citizen of Washington County, Ralph E. McCray; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Ralph E. McCray as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
