HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 197
Commending John Champe High School.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 21, 2013

 

WHEREAS, John Champe High School, a public school in Aldie, was founded in 2012 and provides new opportunities for students in the Dulles South area; and

WHEREAS, John Champe High School is named for a patriot in the American Revolution, John Champe, who was handpicked by George Washington for a secret mission to capture the traitor Benedict Arnold; and

WHEREAS, John Champe High School has an enrollment of 1,047 students who are beginning their academic journey, as is common in new schools, without a senior class; and

WHEREAS, John Gabriel, the principal of John Champe High School, enthusiastically leads the inaugural class of the growing school; and

WHEREAS, John Champe High School employs 65 dedicated and talented staff members, ranging from teachers to administrators; and

WHEREAS, John Champe High School has integrated a career and technical education program into its traditional curriculum to prepare students for the challenges of higher education and the work force; and

WHEREAS, John Champe High School uses the CLARITY Parent Portal to allow parents to play a larger role in their children’s education; and

WHEREAS, joining the other outstanding academic institutions in the Loudoun County Public Schools system, John Champe High School is the 13th public high school in Loudoun County; and

WHEREAS, the construction of John Champe High School was an investment in the future of the community that will pay off by providing new educational opportunities to students in Loudoun County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That John Champe High School hereby be commended on the occasion of its inaugural year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to John Gabriel, the principal of John Champe High School, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the school’s success and best wishes for the future.
