Commending the Organization of Korean American Women, Inc.

WHEREAS, the Organization of Korean American Women, Inc., a support and service organization founded on July 7, 1963, in Annandale, has met the needs of Korean American women in Fairfax County for 50 years; and

WHEREAS, the Organization of Korean American Women, Inc., serves the community by providing assistance with language barriers, customs, and social and economic issues and by simply offering friendship to Korean American women who are alone in a new country; and

WHEREAS, through its House of Hope, the Organization of Korean American Women, Inc., has helped countless women facing violence, abuse, persecution, or poverty; and

WHEREAS, the Organization of Korean American Women, Inc., operates a 24-hour hotline to promptly respond to women in need of shelter, legal assistance, or financial support; the group recently extended its support to all women in the area and partnered with Artemis House women’s shelter; and

WHEREAS, the Organization of Korean American Women, Inc., has helped countless women thrive in American society and looks to continue providing the members of the community with hope and help whenever they are needed; and

WHEREAS, the Organization of Korean American Women, Inc., owes much of its success to its hardworking staff, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors; it will celebrate this success at its annual fundraising banquet in December 2013; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Organization of Korean American Women, Inc., hereby be commended for meeting the needs of Korean American women in Fairfax County for 50 years; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Young J. Un, the president of the Organization of Korean American Women, Inc., as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the group’s devotion to the well-being of the community.
