HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 187
Commending the Bahá'í Center of Loudoun County.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 23, 2013

 

WHEREAS, the Bahá’í Center of Loudoun County has served the community by providing activities and outreach since 2006; and

WHEREAS, founded in the 1800s, the Bahá’í Faith is the youngest of the world’s independent religions; and

WHEREAS, the central theme of the Bahá’í Faith is that humanity is one single race and that all people should unite into one global society; and

WHEREAS, there is a worldwide community of more than five million Bahá’ís, with members spanning many nations, ethnic groups, cultures, professions, and backgrounds; and

WHEREAS, the Bahá’í Center of Loudoun County serves the community by providing a space for other groups to have activities or meetings; and

WHEREAS, the Bahá’í Center of Loudoun County helps the poor and disadvantaged by donating food and clothes; and

WHEREAS, the Bahá’í Center of Loudoun County has been in Loudoun County since 2006 and works closely with the Northern Virginia Bahá’í Center; and

WHEREAS, the Bahá’í Faith does not have a leader or priest, but rather a group of nine individuals, the Local Spiritual Assembly, who are elected annually by the community to tend to the affairs of the faith in every city; and

WHEREAS, there are approximately 450 members above the age of 21 under the Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Loudoun County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Bahá’í Center of Loudoun County hereby be commended for its involvement with the community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Bahá’í Center of Loudoun County as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the center’s generous service and outreach to the residents of Loudoun County.
