Commending the Loudoun School for the Gifted.

WHEREAS, Dr. Deep Sran founded Ideal Schools High School after 15 years of research; and

WHEREAS, Ideal Schools High School was renamed the Loudoun School for the Gifted in 2012; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun School for the Gifted has provided excellence in education since 2008; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun School for the Gifted has expanded its services to include sixth through eighth grades; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun School for the Gifted has raised the level of education standards for secondary education and set a new standard of expectation; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun School for the Gifted has set the foundation for a successful and vibrant generation of rising scholars and professionals; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun School for the Gifted offers opportunities to students that far surpass the average opportunities allotted by standard secondary education programs; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun School for the Gifted is the only middle and high school for advanced students in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, at the Loudoun School for the Gifted, students work in a small, supportive community where school feels right and their ideas, interests, and highest aspirations really matter; and

WHEREAS, classes are small and are designed to encourage dialogue among teachers and peers; and

WHEREAS, courses are built on great books and challenging questions, with the aim of helping students learn to think critically and creatively; and

WHEREAS, most of the faculty at the Loudoun School for the Gifted have doctorates or advanced degrees in their respective fields, allowing them to provide expert guidance and academic work designed to prepare students to be successful in higher education and in their future professional lives; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun School for the Gifted exists to be an incubator for new ideas and practices in secondary education; and

WHEREAS, at the Loudoun School for the Gifted, teachers know their students, students know their peers, and together they work to help each other accomplish great things; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Loudoun School for the Gifted hereby be commended on the occasion of its fifth anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dr. Deep Sran, the founder of the Loudoun School for the Gifted, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for the school’s commitment to the young people of Loudoun County.
